WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The conversion of the former Dell Inc. plant by Herbalife Ltd. is expected to begin in earnest in June now that it has hired a general contractor.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Herbalife announced with great fanfare on Dec. 19 that it would spend $130 million on an overhaul project of the 750,000-square-foot facility after paying $22 million for the plant.
Herbalife plans to use about 585,000 square feet in its initial production, which is expected to begin in June 2014.
Company spokesman Julian Cacchioli said CRB Builders LLC, based in Kansas City, was hired in March. CRB’s Raleigh office is expected to handle the retrofit.
